OmSmelt is a Bornholm based glass studio transforming discarded glass from the pharmaceutical industry into hand blown objects. Each piece carries traces of what the material has been and the hands that shaped it into something new. Familiar forms meet the particular character of reclaimed glass. Subtle variations and marks of process become part of the design.

For OmSmelt conscious design begins with what already exists. Venetian and Swedish glassmaking traditions are revived and adapted to the demands of reclaimed industrial glass. The work belongs to a growing culture of rejuvenation that values renewal over replacement and a more considered relationship with the things we bring into our homes. Each object is handmade on Bornholm in Denmark.
